Rift's Update 1.5 is Live.

This update features tons of new content including the Planar Attunement system, duo dungeons, and a brand new PvP Warfront and much more. • Veteran Rewards - Subscribers earn rewards the longer they play Rift, including special gear, a personal vendor, and a portable mailbox.
• AddOns Beta - Customize your play with new AddOns Beta, fan-created mods for your Rift user interface.

Rift's 1.3 Patch

The folks over at http://www.pcgamer.com/ posted a great article regarding the 1.3 patch, and I always like to share good information from other reliable sources:  So, here’s a portion of their post.

Rift’s recent 1.3 update started the Waves of Madness, a multi-phase live event that will conclude with the opening of the Hammerknell raid instance in a couple weeks. The patch brought new companion pets and Item Sets, among other cosmetic and balance changes. But before the doors to the forsaken dwarven city open up, there’s going to be several weeks of exclusive, limited-time content for you to play and earn unique rewards from. But once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. Luckily, we have you covered–we’re putting together guides over the next few weeks to help you get the most out of each Phase’s content while it’s hear for the conquering.

What’s Hammerknell?

Everything that takes place during the next few weeks is building towards the opening of Hammerknell, a dwarven city that’s been eerily silent since the rifts emerged. That’s not to say it’s safe. Far from it–the city is forsaken, and filled with all manner of ghouls and horrors. When its doors open there will be a new a 20-man raid awaiting, with high-end loot and some the most challenging content to date. In other words, it’s time to start getting geared, and the new daily quest content is a good place to start.

Choose Calling Carefully

Beginner Tip:  Choose Calling Carefully

Calling would be your archetype. This is something that can't be changed once you make the choice.  Let me repeat that – once you choose the calling, it can’t be changed! So choose wisely.   For example, if you were a Mage in other RPG games, don't automatically select that.  The mechanics of Rift work differently. There are four Callings - Mage, Warrior, Rogue and Cleric. When getting started, try out each of them for a while.  After you have a better understanding of the game, then you can finalize which one you want to play.
